SCOTT A. SPRENGER, Pharm.D., Colonel, USAF (Ret) Scott was born in Connecticut but moved with his family to Ritzville in 1965. His father, Ernie was a minister in the Ritzville community for over 30 years. In 1973 Ernie married Thelma (Koch), RHS class of 1954. Scott began the first grade at Ritzville elementary and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1977. His brothers and sisters attended RHS; Ann (1972), Mark (1975), David (McCormick) (1976), Darlene (McCormick) and Cindy (1978). He enjoyed friends, sports, FFA, Honor Society, and was class president.

After High School, he attended Eastern Washington University, graduating in 1981 with a degree in Biology/Chemistry. He married his High School sweetheart Janet (Miller), RHS class of 1979, and they were off to Pharmacy School at Pullman. He graduated from Washington State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. Their daughter Aimee was born the same year a week after starting his first pharmacy job at Thrifty Drug in Kent, WA. Scott entered the Air Force in 1988 with a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant. Their first assignment was to the largest AF Medical Center located in San Antonio TX. He then completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas in 1993 and became board certified in Pharmacotherapy.

Scott and Janet enjoyed many assignments in their 28 years of active-duty service in Texas, Alaska, California, Colorado and the Defense Health Agency/Pentagon in Washington DC. Scott had two assignments as a Commander (Squadron and Group) and culminated his Air Force career as the Pharmacy Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General and Associate Chief for Pharmacy. He was the career mentor and professional advocate for more than 400 pharmacists and 1200 pharmacy technicians. He retired from active duty in 2016 at the rank of Colonel. Scott and Janet currently live at Clear Lake outside of Medical Lake, WA. He works as a civilian pharmacist on Fairchild AFB. They enjoy being close to their daughter Aimee, son-in-law Gavin Heider (RHS class of 2002; his parents Jim RHS class of 1975, Tami RHS class of 1977), and grandchildren Henry, Emma, and Anabelle who live outside of Cheney WA. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, wood, and yard work. He has and always will consider Ritzville as his home.
