Dr. Frank Lynch is a professor in the mathematics department at Eastern Washington University (EWU).  When not doing math, he can be found doing a variety of outdoor activities, including officiating lacrosse, coaching lacrosse, biking, hiking, and skiing.

After graduating Ritzville High School with the Class of 1995, he attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.  While there, Frank was a (too slow!) midfielder on the lacrosse team, a (fifth-chair!) trumpet in the wind symphony, and a (double!) major in mathematics and physics.  After graduation, he attended graduate school at the University of Utah, where he developed his love for the outdoors, began officiating lacrosse, and completed a PhD in Mathematics.

After leaving Salt Lake City, he joined the faculty at Occidental College in Los Angeles.  While there, he taught in the mathematics department for four years, and accepted a job offer from EWU in 2013.  He currently lives in Cheney with his wife, Holly, and two daughters, Ella and Grace.  At EWU, Frank interacts with students who are pursuing degrees in a variety of fields, including mathematics, mathematics education, engineering, and computer science.  As an applied mathematician, he is particularly interested in using mathematics to better understand biological mechanisms. Returning to Eastern Washington to work at EWU has given Frank many exciting opportunities, the greatest of which is the pleasure of time with family.
